Fairness is important when praising some one in front of others. Ensure that you are not doing it at the expense of others, not selectively praising one for the same thing you did praise another in the group, and over doing it beyond what is deserved. Such unfair praising causes long-term damage to others in the team for the short-term gain in lifting one person in the group.
