Mangagemrnt of a long-drawn out project also requires some intense phases. Just like even in a marathon sometime one has to sprint.

I tend to complete pending work at rapid clip when leaving out of town. A clean point of transition tends to take on the role of a deadline, perhaps. Alternatively, not wanting to worry about pending stuff during travel could be another reason.
